RED FLAGS VS BEING PETTY!

Red flags often walk right up to the abusive behavior line and sometimes even dance all over it — and crossing the line can easily happen

Red flags represent the early warnings of unhealthy traits.

  • A yellow flag is more of a warning sign that an issue may develop from a difference, difficulty, or area of struggle.

RED FLAGS

  • manipulating

  • gaslighting

  • dishonesty

  • All-consuming: They say they love you right away, and even if you’re not there yet, it only matters that you satisfy their needs.

  • Rudeness: They are dismissive or mean to your closest friends and family.

  • Affection-Taking: They withhold affection or punish you by withholding affection.

  • Unimportant: They aren’t proud of your accomplishments and don’t share in your successes.

  • Too mysterious. If they’re too vague, their lack of honesty is a warning sign.

  • Too many texts. Texting is fine and fast, but if that’s all they do, it’s not genuine.

  • Lack of passion for something in life.

  • Someone who doesn't ask questions in a conversation or share anything about themselves

  • Has children but clearly isn’t very involved by choice.

  • “I’ve never met anyone like you. You’re so amazing,” in the first hour of chatting. Classic love bomb.

  • They ask you for money

  • You are not on the same page when it comes to commitment 

Jealous

  • They get angry if someone tries to talk to you in a public setting

  • They get very defensive when you bring up past relationships or healthy boundaries

  • They don’t want to hear your stories of past happy memories that don’t include them

  • They don’t like when you hang out with your friends

CRAZY

They call you crazy when they want to invalidate your feelings and experiences. It's a red flag

When there is suspicion and things don’t feel quite right, red flags should be waiving and alarms should be deafening We generally have a gut feeling about people and situations.

  • Why do we purposefully choose to ignore those feelings?

The fantasy is just too good to let go of — the promise of love and all that comes with that is overpowering and completely seductive.
